“Holistic” (or integrative) veterinary medicine is the combined use of conventional and alternative (or complementary) medicine. It differs from conventional veterinary medicine in that it takes a more natural and common sense approach to your pet’s healthcare. It acknowledges the capacity of the body to heal on its own if we remove the impediments to healing. Through proper nutrition, regular daily care, avoidance of chemical toxins, and minimization of emotional stress the body’s own immune system becomes strengthened, enabling the body to heal itself and be fortified against possible disease. It avoids the overuse or common misuse of many drugs, antibiotics, steroids, artificial chemicals, vaccinations, and other treatments.
We treat each pet patient as an individual, prescribing only what he or she needs. Our holistic veterinarians are trained in many different modalities and treat mostly with physical treatments, proper diet, natural whole-food and herbal dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, formulas from the ancient Chinese, Ayurvedic and Western herbal traditions, Bach Flower emotional remedies, essential oils and homeopathic remedies. Physical treatments include VOM chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture therapy, ozone therapy, cold laser therapy (LLLT), and Reiki, among other treatments. We recommend regular check-ups and blood tests to help us keep your pet on track and in balance.
We see dogs, cats, small mammals, birds and reptiles at our clinic and are available for house calls as well. In Northern New Jersey, we do Equine barn calls for acupuncture, chiropractic and cold laser therapy.

My 15 Yr. Jack Russell was very unhealthy when Dr B got him. Dr B and the staff took action. He now lives like a 5 year old. Thank you
Fantastic trusted care by Dr. Buchoff and especially thorough attention by Dr. Hirsch. I take my pet for check ups, blood titering so we can reduce/avoid vaccines, chiropractic. We have also used adjunct therapies like probiotics, essential oils and Bach remedies to balance out an emergency surgery. I buy their Longevity frozen raw dog food, mostly chicken, turkey, beef. The staff at Longevity, next door, is also very pleasant and accommodating.
Dr. Hirsch and Dr. B take very good care of my fur babies!
Dr Mini is an angel on earth!!!! i called her mid afternoon to see if she was available to make a home visit for my ailing dog Chester. Please note that she had never treated my dog before. Despite having a full schedlue all day and traveling to many locations in the state. she came at 8:30pm that evening without hesitation. She took her time, was very informative about his illness and gave us the direction we were looking for. Unfortunately he was severely ill and had to be euthanized. Even though she had worked since 6am that day she did not rush things along. She truly cares about animals and their owners. I would highly recommend this selfless doctor!!!
